The Process

A kitchen or bath remodel is not one trade. It is plumbing, framing, waterproofing, tile, stone, millwork, and cabinets — in the right order. We handle that sequence in house so the parts fit.

Permits are required. Fortunately the permit for a bathroom or kitchen remodel is quick and inexpensive.  We will handle the drawings, permits, and inspections required for your job.

The permitting is part of the job, it's public record, and FYI: unpermitted construction can affect property value and financing options negatively. 

Before demo we isolate the room so the rest of the house stays livable.
Finished floors on the path get ram board, taped, with masonite on the heavy runs. Dust is held with zip walls and covered HVAC returns; we run an air scrubber when the cut is dirty. Tubs, toilets, appliances, cabinets, and new material stay wrapped or in the crate. One way in and out. Containment stays up until the dirty work is done.

We tear it out and take it with us. No dumpster in the driveway, no pile on the curb. Debris goes to the dump the same day.

From adding or removing walls, windows, doors.

The rough carpentry work will be done with a fine finish detail in mind, it is called rough, but it is a foundation that fine details are built on. During this time the bones of the remodel are built. 

When the finish carpentry work and mill work is installed to the same perfection as all the other details, your job will be almost complete and the finishing touches that we add to our jobs are going to really stand out.

From design, fabrication, through installation; knowing every detail of every cabinet and its construction and function is no small task... Our shower pans are the strongest most durable mortar-bed type,  presloped to the drain, waterproofed up the walls as one system. 

Steam showers get a vapor-tight envelope — floor, walls, & ceiling —

Handicap Accessible and no-curb showers use specialized waterproofing techniques, with the slope and drain built for the entire room.
Niches, benches, windows are also prepared with the best waterproofing.

All our waterproofing work is flood tested overnight to ensure no problems in the future.

The plumbing design is as important; as every other detail that we handle in house. Combined with the waterproofing and other plumbing elements of your job, this is another area where you can count on our team using a solid plumbing system, design, and installation; all beautifully integrated just for your job. 

All of your tile and stone will be installed in the "traditional mortar bed method" for a lifetime of beauty and quality.  This is the only method that will last long enough to see a great return on your investment. We do not use the more common and inferior methods... such as the backer board method- at Valley Tile and Plumbing you can count on highly skilled, permanent installation methods that will last decades... If not centuries.

All cement is not the same. It is more complex when you include the many types of tile. Stone, and uses of materials on a remodeling job.
